Acoustic Guitar The acoustic guitar did not arrive into the southern Appalachians until the late 19th.early 20th century with the arrival of the Sears and Roebuck Catalog. Most other stringed instruments in the region would have been built locally, but the guitar came through mail-order. I play a Chris Capozzoli Acoustic. Chris is an incredible luthier and has been building electric guitars and basses since 2009. He started building acoustic guitars in late 2014. He owns #1, a friend of mine bought #2 that Chris had on display at a fiddlers' convention, I own #3, which was Chris' first customized acoustic. The guitar is based on a Gibson L-00, and the pickguard was made by Wayne Henderson from Rugby, VA. Check out Chris facebook page here.
